The Journey To Borneo

Most often it’s the journey that’s more interesting than the destination. We have not yet arrived at our destination of Borneo but the journey thus far has been wonderful. We left LAX Friday night past midnight and it’s now Sunday morning in Kuala Lumpur. We’re about to board our third and final flight to Kuching on the island of Borneo.
We landed in Shanghai at 6am Saturday and made it into the city by 9am and spent the day walking the city starting at East Nanjing road (the pedestrian shopping street) ducking in and out of stores eating along the way. Then along the Bund (the riverfront walkway) and towards the Yu Yuan garden and “Old Shanghai” road. Walking along a smaller road we found a little restaurant with great Shanghai Dumplings.
We left Shanghai on an 8pm flight to Kuala Lumpur arriving just past 1:30am. A friend of a friend picked us up and took us to the famed outdoor food stalls of Jalan Alor where we ate from 2:30am to 4:30am then got foot massages making it back to the airport for our 9am flight to Borneo.
A quote from Kim: “For two days we’ve just been flying shopping and eating, flying shopping and eating. Let’s just keep doing this!” Awesome!
